Recognizing the multifaceted benefits of eSports, Georgia took proactive steps to integrate it into high school athletics. In 2018, the GA High School Association officially elevated esports to the same status as traditional sports like football, basketball, and soccer.  Unfortunately, most Georgians don’t know this.

Shao-Con stands as a platform not only to celebrate the talents of young eSports athletes but more importantly to introduce students, families, and communities to previously undiscovered career opportunities.

Our approach is simple. Each county’s Chamber of Commerce members will sponsor their local high school teams, enabling them to compete. This sponsorship not only serves as a tax deductible write-off for businesses. It also builds community support and awareness for e-sports programs that many don’t even know exist. By alleviating students’ financial concerns, these young people can fully prepare themselves and focus on doing what they do best— Gaming.

Attending ShaoCon will be life altering for these young Gamers because of their exposure to the possibilities of “Life After High School” — including the GGDA Intercollegiate College & Job fair, the Creatives’ Multimedia Expo, and the spark of inspiration and curiosity that many young adults need in order to move beyond high school and into adulthood.

We’ll also invite the regional collegiate and professional eSports teams in order to showcase the opportunities and advantages that each brings to their organization and allow them to scout and recruit the up & coming Talents.
